POLICE are warning residents to be wary of fake social media accounts causing concern across the county.

The alarm was raised after a posting on WMidsEmergencyAlerts Twitter page claimed patients were waiting for more than six hours at the Alexandra Hospital on Monday (February 15) and 38 patients were still awaiting treatment.

Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust have assured the public all patients were seen within the deemed acceptable four hour wait.

A spokeswoman said: “Our staff work very hard to ensure people are seen and treated as fast as possible but we recognise that on occasions people do wait longer than we would have liked..

“On Monday all patients were seen in under one hour 23 minutes of their arrival at A&E and the average waiting time, the time from arriving to discharge or admission, was three hours 14 minutes.”

A spokeswoman from West Midlands Police said: “We have been trying to get to the bottom of who is running this unofficial site and would warn residents to take what is said on this account with a pinch of salt.”
