A SPECIAL event was held in Bromsgrove town centre on Ash Wednesday to signal the start of Lent.
Church members from across the district, Rev Ray Khan from St John’s Church and The Archdeacon of Dudley Nikki Groarke were on the High Street to say prayers for residents they met. There was also a service held at St John’s Church in the daytime for the pupils of St John’s Middle School.
That was organised by Rev Khan and Mrs Singh, the school’s head of RE, and encouraged the children to think about what they would be giving up for Lent and what they will be doing.
“All in all it was a very good day,” said Rev Khan.
