Bromsgrove residents to be offered prayers by church members on Ash Wednesday

CHURCH members from across Bromsgrove will be in the High Street on Ash Wednesday (February 10), offering to say prayers for the people they meet.

The Archdeacon of Dudley Nikki Groarke will also be present during the event between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Ash Wednesday is a date in the Christian calendar when people express sorrow for the wrongs they have done.

A spokesperson for the Diocese of Worcester said: “It is a day to cleanse the soul as the Lent fast begins.

“Many churches have Ash Wednesday services at which worshippers are marked with ashes as a symbol of death and sorrow for sin.”
