A DRINK DRIVER who was nearly twice over the legal limit has walked away with a 15 month ban.
Michael Poston, of Kipling Road, Northfield, pleaded guilty at Redditch Magistrates court on Tuesday (October 27) to driving on Birmingham Road in Alvechurch, with 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on.
Adrian Jones, prosecuting, said: “He came to the attention of the police at about 12.15am on October 11, when he drove through a temporary red traffic light.
“Officers stopped and spoke to him and could tell he smelt of alcohol.”
Defence solicitor, David Ollivere, said: “He went out with friends and had planned to stay at his parents. He got a call from his partner and became concerned that his 15-month-old was not settling and he proceeds to go back home to check on him.”
Mr Ollivere told the court the 22-year-old was likely to lose his job if he was unable to drive fro more than three months.
District Judge Nigel Cadubry said: “I bare in mind that you have had no relevant convictions and that this is likely to have on your employment.”
He fined Poston £250 and ordered him to pay £135 in prosecution costs, a £150 court charge and a £20 victim surcharge.
