Drivers warned about M5 and M42 motorway closures in the next week

THERE will be a number of motorway closures in the West Midlands in the coming weeks as Highways England carries out routine maintenance projects.

 

Drivers are being warned that the southbound carriageway of the M42 between Junction 3 (Birmingham South) and Junction 2 (Hopwood) will be closed overnight from 10pm to 6am between now and August 14. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.

The carriageway will be closed in both directions.




The M5 will be closed in both directions at Junction 4 between 9pm and 6am between now and Friday (July 31). A diversion route will be clearly signposted.

Bridge inspections will also be carried out during this time.


And the M5 will be closed in both directions between Junction 3 to Junction 4a from 10pm to 6am between Saturday and Monday (August 1 and 3).

A spokesperson for Highways England said: “All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.”
