YOUNG Picassos at Lickey Hills Primary School and Nursery have been impressing all with their artwork.

Pupils spent the week dressing as various artist and learning tricks of the trade and all about the different cultures, techniques and media there are.

The children rolled up their sleeves and made a collaborative coil pot with a potter Jon Williams from Eastnor pottery as well as puppet theatres, Mexican masks, Aboriginal paintings, an Anthony Gormely inspired clay work and Monet style paintings of the Lickey monument.

At the end of the week the students’ family and friends were invited in to the school to view a special exhibition of the children’s work.

Headteacher Amanda Salisbury said: “It was a very creative and memorable week for the pupils who have enjoyed exploring how art is linked to science and maths as well as strengthening our links with the local community.”
