A DOCUMENTARY filmed by a budding young director from South Bromsgrove High School has been accepted into the DocSunback Film Festival in America.

George Watkins is the brains behind SBH Racing – The Inside Story – a film which charts how students got together to build and race their own electric ‘Formula 24’ vehicle.

He said his involvement in the Greenpower team enlightened him of the opportunities offered and the skills that could be learnt by participating in the scheme. the scheme.

“Film making is one of my passions and I wanted to make a documentary as I had previously only made animation and action films.

“I felt by making a short film, we could increase awareness of the scheme and potentially inspire a new generation of engineers.”

George led a small team of students to begin planning the piece and held interviews in school with Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid and the project’s sponsors, Coun Anthony Blagg and the managing director of USN Europe, who all appeared in the film. He even persuaded BBC Hereford and Worcester’s Mike Wyer to narrate the movie.

George added: “I am very excited at the prospect of the film being shown to a large international audience and I’m excited to see where the project will go next.”

George has just finished the script to his next short film ‘Death at Christmas,’ which is a classic murder mystery. He plans to start filming that very soon.
