MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of North Worcestershire have raised £2,500 to help with the costs of the rebuilding a community centre in the rural area of Dharmpani, Tanahun West Napal.

The donation, which covers 80 per cent of the cost of reconstruction follows an earthquake in Gorkha in April last year which measured 7.6 on the Richter scale. The quake, which was followed by more than 300 further aftershocks, killed 9,000, injured 23,000 and is estimated to have affected a total of 8million people in the region, almost one-third of the population.

The earthquake has caused major disruptions to the lives of the most disadvantaged groups in the area and so the rebuilding of the community centre is providing vital support for those living in the epicentre.
