Worcestershire Inner Wheel raises £500 for charity

A FUND-RAISING evening organised by women from the North Worcestershire Inner Wheel has raised £500 for charity.

The event, held at Burcot Village Hall, featured a talk on Worcester Porcelain by local expert Colin Millett and the cash collected will now be donated to Special Olympics Worcestershire.

The group provides all year round training and competition opportunities for those with intellectual disabilities.

Up to 40 athletes train at the Ryland Centre every Thursday evening in a number of disciplines, including basketball, swimming, gymnastics and tennis. Representing the club are Jen Chesterman and Ben O’Brien, two of its members who have been selected to represent Special Olympics Great Britain at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles later this year.

The donation will help the club continue to provide training venues, coaching, kit and equipment and assist in travelling and competition expenses for all club members.
