THREE Duke of Edinburgh leaders at Waseley Hills High School set off on a walk of more than 100 miles to raise money towards helping students participate in the D of E scheme, writes Rebecca Ward.
The team, Simon Green (gold D of E leader and assistant headteacher, ex-student and silver D of E leader Hannah Lippett and Rick Solly (D of E coordinator and ICT manager), set off last Friday (July 22) on the last day of term to head to Aberystwyth in Wales.
The trio have already raised more than £1,700 for the cause and created a webpage where interested people were able to view their progress.
They hope that this cash will allow the D of E scheme to be accessible to all and not simply become an elitist activity.
As the Standard went to press, they were well into Wales.
