Warning to Bromsgrove car owners after spate of thefts from vehicles

RESIDENTS living on the Oakalls estate and in other areas of south Bromsgrove are being warned to be on their guard after entry was gained to a number of vehicles in the last few days.

The raiders targeted cars towards the end of last week – from Thursday (June 29) to Friday (June 30) with several motorists saying they awoke to find their doors ajar and their glove compartments and other areas having being rifled through.

In many of the instances, there has been no damage to the cars leading to the belief that owners have not been locking their cars.

A number of items have been taken from vehicles including a set of golf clubs and bag, sunglasses, coats and cash. In some cases no items have been taken and the would-be thieves have just made untidy searches.

Officers from Bromsgrove Police are currently examining CCTV footage which captured some of the incidents.

One man seen on the pictures was of slim build, had short hair and was wearing jeans, a short jacket, baseball cap and trainers with a pale sole. He was spotted trying all car door handles, one after the other, until he ‘gets lucky’.

The police have urged drivers to ensure their vehicles are locked before they go to bed at night and to make sure they do not leave valuables in the cars.

Witnesses or anyone with any information on any of the thefts should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
