Town tidy-up needs your help

Bromsgrove Editorial 2nd Aug, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A RALLYING call has gone out to residents and business representatives to join forces and hold a Great Bromsgrove Clean-Up in the High Street.

The event, which will take place on August 19, has been organised by the Town Team traders’ group. Its aim is for participants to ‘pick up litter and tidy the nooks and crannies in hard-to-reach areas of the High Street where lots of rubbish gathers’.

Bromsgrove District Council is supporting the scheme by providing litter-pickers and clean-up equipment for the event.

Lorita Cornish, who runs Lorita’s Bakehouse and Chairs the Town Team, said: “We need to take responsibility for our High Street and make everyone proud if it.

“The clean-up will not only make the High Street look better, it will also bring the community together.”

Coun Rita Dent, whose portfolio covers the High Street, said: “Although the council has a cleaning schedule, unfortunately people drop litter in between these times and also in areas we are not responsible for keeping tidy.

“We want people to stop dropping rubbish and littering the High Street and the whole district in the first place, so I hope this community effort will make people think twice.”

Anyone wanting to take part in the Great Bromsgrove Clean-Up should e-mail Lorita at [email protected] or Martin, at the Bromsgrove Cobbler at [email protected]
