Standard reporter, Anu Shukla has produced a short film of her experience at the French refugee camps in Calais and Dunkirk.
The film takes a focus on the humanitarian effort of mainly British volunteers.
The footage was taken just weeks before the French authorities made the decision to demolish the south side of the Calais camp where refugees have been attacked with rubber bullets, water cannons and tear gas by riot police – also known as CRS, or Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité.
Many of the shacks in the Calais camp seen in this film have now been demolished.
It has been reported that some 3,500 people are in the process of being displaced as a result and some 400 unaccompanied children are now vulnerable to the clutches of child traffickers.
