THERE will be a festive feel in the air at Northfield Shopping Centre from Thursday (November 26) when Father Christmas arrives on his sleigh.

An igloo grotto is busily being put together to house the man in the big red suit so he is ready to welcome youngsters from across South Birmingham and beyond.

There will also be polar bears, seals and penguins in the animated Arctic grotto which will be near the centre’s park entrance.

After opening on Thursday, Santa will then be there from every Thursday to Sunday until Christmas, along with December 21 to Christmas Eve.

The opening hours are 11am to 5pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 4pm on Sunday. Entrance is £4 per child, and includes a present.

Staff are also hard at work decorating Northfield Shopping Centre with glitzy Christmas decorations, including a massive fir tree covered in lights and smaller trees full of lights and baubles.

Northfield Shopping Centre manager Adam Meade, said the igloo has returned as it was very popular last year.

“I am sure that it will make help Christmas shopping trips a lot of fun for families.”
