Bromsgrove Editorial 19th Nov, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A RARE book charting the fascinating history of Bromsgrove will be on offer at bargain book sales being held next weekend and the weekend after.

The event, selling The Story of Bromsgrove by William G Leadbetter which was published in 1946, takes place at Bromsgrove Library between 10am and 5pm next Friday (November 28) and on December 5.

The title will also be available at the same venue from 9am to 3pm next Saturday (November 29) and on December 6.

Until the 1980s The Story of Bromsgrove was the only book available about the town and even today it contains a lot of information that is not available in any other publication.

There will be a host of other new and nearly new books by The Bromsgrove Society.

John Weston, the president of the society, said: “Since there is no bookshop in the town it offers an opportunity to buy books not only about Bromsgrove but also many of the surrounding towns and villages.

“Recent new publications will be available including Life on the Lickey, Bridging the Gap, Bromsgrove to Aston Fields and the just published local history magazine The Bromsgrove Rousler.”
