A DROITWICH fund-raiser, who is undertaking a 55km five-day trek along the Great Wall of China in aid of Bowel Cancer UK, is holding a pub quiz next Friday (September 13) to help find the trip.
Margaret Vickers, 56, is holding the trivia contest at 7.30pm at Avoncroft Arts Centre for her family, friends and colleagues.
She is undertaking her fund-raising drive in memory of her husband Bob who lost his battle with the disease in July this year and to make a difference to such an important cause.
“Bob showed great courage and determination throughout his illness and his positive and optimistic attitude to life was a great inspiration to everyone who knew him.”
Every year, over 40,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer and more than 15,700 people die of the disease. Bowel Cancer UK is determined to save lives and improve the quality of life for all those affected by bowel cancer.
The head of community and events for Bowel Cancer UK, Dani Freedland, said, “Without people like Margaret doing amazing fundraising events like this, Bowel Cancer UK couldn’t continue to do the vital work it does to save lives and improve the quality of life for all those affected by bowel cancer.”
Entry to the quiz, which includes a light buffet supper and soft drinks, is £5. Teams are up to six people. Participants can take a bottle or some cans along as well.
There is also a raffle with prizes including a spa day for two with treatments and lunch, two tickets for Jasper Carrot at Palace Theatre, Redditch and many more.
