THE NEW Post Office in Lickey End will be officially opened at 1pm today (Friday).

The branch, at Vicky’s Convenience Store, will be an open-plan, low-screened post office counter integrated into the existing shop and will be open seven days a week.

Store owner, Vicky Onions said: “The staff and I are excited about the opening and starting our venture with the Post Office.

“After a couple of days classroom training I was amazed at how many services and facilities the Post Office can offer people.

“There is a lot to learn.

“I’m hoping the local community will find it a very useful service and will encourage them to use their local shop more.”

To give customers more flexibility, the new counter at the shop on Alcester Road, will be open 84 hours and 30 minutes across seven days a week – from 6.30am to 7.30pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 7.30pm Saturday and 7.30am to 3pm Sunday.

Vicky’s’ is an independent shop in Lickey End which currently offers meat and pies from Bromsgrove-based Partridges Butcher’s meat and pies and fresh cakes from Fatherson’s bakery as well as alcohol, tobacco, confectionary, newspapers and magazines.

The Post Office opening was originally planned for last month, but had to be postponed.
