New style Rubery post office aims to make life easier

RUBERY Post Office will close its doors tomorrow (Saturday) and be shut for a fortnight while it undergoes an extensive revamp.

The branch – at 126 New Road – will re-open with its new open-plan look at 1pm on March 27.

Then it will provide four counter positions – one modern screened one, two open-plan and a combi-counter where there will be a post office terminal next to the till.

It will be available from 8am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday, increasing its opening times by 13-and-a-half hours a week.

The Post Office’s area manager Mark Jacobs said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new style post office at the heart of the community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.

“The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The next nearest branches for customers will be Longbridge Post Office, Longbridge Supermarket, 1706 to 1708 Bristol Road South, Rednal, and Northfield Post Office, 773 Bristol Road, Northfield.
