RESIDENTS have been invited to take part in a ‘how to deal with stress and worry’ programme.
Epic (Empowering people in communities), the Bromsgrove-based social enterprise set up by local business woman Debbie Roberts, is offering a free ten-week MoodMaster course which will begin on September 23.
It focuses on helping people to cope with low level emotional health issues.
The classes will take place at the Health Promotion Suite at BHI Parkside, on the Stourbridge Road, and will run between 10am and 11am every week on a Thursday until November 27.
The scheme has been designed to help those suffering from anxiety, depression or from repeatedly feeling irritable or angry.
The classes have been aimed at people who have trouble sleeping, difficultly concentrating, problems controlling their emotions and those who feel like life has lost its sparkle.
MoodMaster is an upbeat approach to physical and emotional well being by offering information about both mental and physical health.
The sessions have been designed to be interesting and relevant and are meant to be fun – they will highlight the benefits of such things as exercise and how it helps to combat depression.
The course is free and for anyone over the age of 19 years old, living in Bromsgrove, who are not receiving any specialist mental health care support.
Residents have been encouraged to bring a friend or family member for support or even if they would like to find out more for themselves.
In addition to the MoodMaster course, Epic also offers one-to-one guided self-help sessions with an experienced practitioner. Up to six sessions of free support are available which focus on helping the participant cope more effectively with their emotions and improve their mental well-being.
