THE DECISION to allocate funds to the New Homes Bonus scheme was deferred at last Wednesday’s Bromsgrove District Council Meeting.
Coun Luke Mallett said: “We don’t believe at a time where the council is facing one of the largest financial cuts we should be allocating money to a grant that was this year in fact under-spent – so actually, we’re trying to put more money into the grant fund than we’ve spent at a time when the council finds itself in unprecedented hardship.”
Coun Geoff Denaro, the portfolio holder for finance, agreed and the council voted to defer the decision to allocate funds to New Homes Bonus until April.
