A POPULAR independent veterinary surgery in Bromsgrove is celebrating the 20th anniversary of it looking after the district’s pets this month.

Clent Hills Vets began in 1996 when Rod Stroud took over two long established practices in Bromsgrove and Hagley and Alun Edwards became a partner. Rebekka Fiorani, who would later also become a partner, joined the practice that year as a kennel hand, working after school and on Saturdays.

Rod, who arrived in the UK in 1989 from South Africa, has a BSC in Zoology and Ecology.

Alun qualified from Liverpool Vet School in July 1986 with a BVSc honours and worked as a vet for around six years before a short break working for drug company Pfizer Animal Health.

After working as a kennel hand, Rebekka fell in love with the practice and worked her way up through the ranks to receptionist, branch manager and then practice manager for the group. In 2004, Rod and Alun asked Rebekka to become a partner in the business.

The name ‘Clent Hills Veterinary Group’ was chosen by a staff member in a competition as the scenic Clent Hills lie between the two practices.

Over the years, Clent Hills Vets went from strength to strength and its ever-growing reputation led to more and more people using the practice.

The practice has a great team of veterinary surgeons, nurses and support staff and prides itself on being professional yet approachable, compassionate, and providing a really personal service to every one of its clients.

It offers preventative healthcare, including vaccinations, neutering, flea & worm protection, microchipping and pet passports, as well as treating acute and long-term illness and injury.

Laser treatment for arthritis, specialist weight clinics and dental care are also available, along with plastic surgery to improve animals’ quality of life.

.On the social side, Clent Hills Vets holds regular puppy parties to help new dog owners with socialisation and toilet training, and it has won awards for being a ‘Cat Friendly Clinic’.

The partners are all extremely thankful to their clients for their support over the years.

“We couldn’t have done it without them,” said Rod.

And, as well as celebrating its success, the practice is also using the anniversary to look to the future.

Rod said: “I love working here because we have wonderful, caring clients and fantastic pets.

“I also love working with the team we have here, who are extremely dedicated and passionate.

“We are proud to have helped and cared for so many pets and their owners in the last 20 years and are looking forward to more of the same in the next 20.”
