A BROMSGROVE man has embarked on a 96-mile charity run to Liverpool in a bid to raise awareness of the Hillsborough disaster.

Craig Farrell set off on his four day run on Wednesday (August 13) and will be covering around 24 miles each day – the whole run will be equivalent to three-and-a-half marathons.

The 26-year-old, who is aiming to raise more than £1,000 for the Steven Gerrard Foundation and Birmingham Children’s Hospital, plans to finish his run outside the Liverpool FC’s home ground in Anfield.

Craig said he had been training for almost five months and felt more physically ready than mentally.

He added: “Essentially I wanted to do a memorial run to pay my respects to the victims of the tragedy but also to raise awareness of it and money for two worth while charities.”
