Bromsgrove's busking bobby encourages all to Nordic walk

BROMSGROVE’S busking bobby is calling on residents to try Nordic walking and get into shape ready for the summer.

Ian Northcott has embarked on a new business venture offering exciting, outdoor exercise for all.

Nordic walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking but twice as effective. It involves cross country skiing, but without the skies – just using the poles. The aim of it is to get people moving like they would on a cross trainer but in the outdoors.

The former police officer said he believed exercise was better and more beneficial when done in the best gym of all  – the great outdoors.

Ian is also hoping to introduce sessions especially for business networking and even speed dating – helping people to get fit and socialise at the same time.

He said Nordic walking was suitable for everyone, with walks taking place over the beautiful Worcestershire countryside.

He added it could be good for neck, shoulder and back problems, was easy on the joints and was effective for all levels.

Ian said: “If anyone wants to get fitter or lose weight but is not interested in the traditional gym setting, Nordic Walking could be for you.”

Anyone wanting to give Nordic walking a go has been invited to try out free taster sessions and see what it is like.
