Bromsgrove teen holds charity walk event

Bromsgrove Editorial 4th Sep, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A SPONSORED walk to raise funds for the Young at Heart charity will take place at Arrow Valley Country Park on Sunday (September 7).

The event was launched by Max Ponsonby, from Bromsgrove, for the cardiac support charity, which helps patients and their families at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Max has undergone several life-saving operations since 1998 after being born with a serious heart defect and enjoys raising funds for the charity, which has given him and his family a tremendous network of support throughout.

The 1.2-mile circular lakeside walk, now an annual event, will start near the Arrow Valley Visitor Centre with staggered departures between 8.30am and 9.30am.

As participants progress around the lake, they will be able to make stops as there are lots of benches and picnic areas well-positioned for breaks.

They will also be able to feed swans and mallards, watch the boats on the water and youngsters can enjoy the children’s play area.

The event has raised more than £3,000 for the charity since its launch.

Registration for the Walk is £3 per participant (free for under 16s). Each circular lap will be certified on the day up to ten laps.

There is ample free car parking available, including spaces for those who are disabled and the walk is suitable for all – it is wheelchair and pushchair friendly.

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
