A BROMSGROVE School student has realised her dreams by being crowned Miss Birmingham 2015 after finishing runner-up in last year’s competition.

Eighteen-year-old Rosie Thompson was given the title at the Burlington Hotel in the city on March 15, beating 19 other hopefuls.

She said: “I didn’t really have high hopes of winning so when they said my name I was completely shocked.

“It’s wonderful, I still can’t believe it. It’s a dream come true to be honest.

“Being able to be a role model and represent my city, somewhere I am so proud to live, is such an honour.”

Along with her sash and crown, Miss Thompson also qualified for a place in the Miss England competition, which is due to take place on September 20 of this year.

“To have also qualified for Miss England around the same time is a dream come true.

“I’m really excited but I’m also quite nervous about competing, but it is going to be amazing.”

Miss Thompson’s success follows her victories last year which saw her crowned deputy Miss Worcestershire in November and Face of the World in a seperate Miss Earth competition.

The teenager was also awarded a contract with a top London modelling agency.

Building on her success, Rosie, who is in her final year of sixth-form, has also secured a role as a member of cabin crew with British Airways at London’s Gatwick Airport, starting on May 15 this year.
