Bromsgrove man making great run strides

A SLIM-FIT Bromsgrove man who used to tip the scales at 18 stone cannot wait for the Great Birmingham Run to arrive.

Andy Wilson, who transformed himself after shedding more than five stone when he decided he wanted a healthier lifestyle three years ago, has embarked on a fund-raising mission in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The 42-year-old will have to run a total of 13.2 miles in the half marathon on October 18.

Andy said he would also be doing it for his seven-year-old daughter who was treated there last year for a minor ailment.

He added: “I’m not really a runner, but I was worried the weight would start creeping back and I wanted a challenge to keep myself focused.

“I couldn’t think of a better institution I would want to raise funds for.”
