Bromsgrove girl Aleks' jumble sale for the Primrose

A KIND-HEARTED Bromsgrove girl has single-handedly organised a jumble sale to raise funds for the Primrose Hospice’s Big Appeal.

Aleksandra Franks will hold the sale on her front garden, at 98 Salwarpe Road, Charford, between 1pm and 5pm on Saturday (August 23).

She donated a lot of her own toys, teddies, clothes and games to sell, asked people to collect and donate other items, made loom band bracelets to sell, designed posters to advertise the event and wrote to her neighbours to let them know it was taking place,

Aleks, who is a member of the 4th Bromsgrove Guides and will go into year six at Aston Fields Middle School in September, even took it upon herself to write to the district council to check she could hold her sale and was given the go ahead.

As well as the sale, there will be drinks and home-made cakes available and the ten-year-old is also hoping someone will come forward to offer to do face-painting to boost the coffers even further.

Aleks’ mum Carol said: “I would love all of Aleks’ hard work to pay off and get lots of people pop round and buy something and have a drink and a piece of homemade cake.”

Helen Garfield, the Primrose Hospice’s chief executive officer, said: “We are so delighted to hear about people like Aleksandra who are organising a fund-raising event for our BIG Appeal.

“The services we offer to our patients and their families are hugely valued by them and it is wonderful that Aleksandra can help us to support local people in this way.

“We are so grateful to all our supporters, volunteers and fund-raisers as without them all we couldn’t do what we do.”
