Bromsgrove businesses help the Primrose Hospice get its gardens in order

BROMSGROVE businesses have ensured the Primrose Hospice’s gardens can continue to look spectacular by donating a ride-on lawn mower and shed to keep it in.

The kind gesture was made by Simon Thomas of Thomas Brothers’Funeral Directors who contributed the mower and Border Fencing of Stoney Lane, Tardebigge, which put forward the shed. The concrete base for the shed was provided by Carpenters Builders of Bromsgrove.

By having its own lawn mower, the hospice will save money every week during the spring and summer as it no longer needs to hire an outside company to cut the grass.

A volunteer has been recruited and trained to use the mower and will cut the grass on a regular basis.

Corporate fund-raiser Kate Kelly said: “This is a great example of local businesses coming together to support the work of the hospice.

“Working in partnership with the Primrose is a great way to motivate staff and demonstrate to customers that businesses take their social responsibility seriously.

“We are a local charity providing care to the customers of businesses that operate in the area. ”

She added, as well as raising their public profile, companies and businesses the charity worked with said their staff gained enormously in unexpected ways through their engagement with the Primrose.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of these local businesses and their donations.”

A team of dedicated gardeners work at the Primrose each week to keep the grounds looking beautiful for patients, their families, the staff and volunteers.

This new ride on mower will make their work so much easier.

“Our income is dependent on donations and support from the local community and it would have been very difficult for us to prioritise our resources in this way,” said Kate.

Any person or organisation interested in working with the Primrose should call Kate on 01527 889796.
