TWO WOMEN will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event, involving Laura Fiddes-Baron, who works for Oulsnam Lettings in Barnt Green, and her friend Kelly Merriman will take place next Saturday (July 16).

The pair will head to the Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough which in total involves an ascent of over 5,200ft.

Laura said although they had not fitted in as much training as they would have liked, they have tackled hills locally, including Clent and Malvern, and also gone to the Lake District and up Snowdon as part of their preparations.

“The reason we chose to raise money for the charity is lots of us have had a personal experience of people suffering with the condition.”

This event is one of a number the company has been doing to raise cash for the cause – they have so far held an afternoon tea and undertaken the Spring Wolf Run. And they are planning many more events in the future.

For the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, they have set themselves a target of £600 and so far £400 has been pledged.
