Bromsgrove author celebrates success of first script

A BROMSGROVE author is celebrating the end of filming using her first movie script.

Emma Austin-Jones led a team of three screenwriters on a HHTV Film Hollywood USA film called SxS The Fashion Movie.

The film was shot at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, and is now being edited in time for release in America towards the end of the year.

She said: “It’s been really good fun and I am very proud.

“It was interesting to work as part of a team and a learning curve for me as the process of writing a script is totally different from writing a novel or story.”

Marc Gray, Hollywood HHTV Producer, approached Emma after he heard about the The Emma Austin-Jones Award for Illustration and Creative Writing which she founded last year.

Emma started the award to help creative students launch careers and to raise awareness of dyspraxia.

She keeps none of the net royalties and instead forwards funds to dyspraxia Foundation UK and student winners.

As part of their search for an unknown writer in America, Mr Gray asked for sample script work from Emma and then invited her to head up the team of screenwriters.

The role saw Emma staying awake until 5am to be able to speak to her colleagues in America, grabbing only four hours of sleep a night.

But her dedication paid off and HHTV have already offered Emma a second film screenwriting assignment, to work on an Anglo-American romantic comedy, as the head writer.
