SCOUTS and guides in Barnt Green can now get to their meeting place off Blackwell Road thanks to a £10,000 grant from the Lotto Awards for All.
The Barnt Green Scout and Guide Centre was opened back in 2011 but, because of the increased use of the road and inclement weather, the access road to the venue has become virtually impassable.
But now, thanks to the cash boost and the hard work of the village’s bonfire committee, scouters, guiders and volunteers, enough money has been raised to have the access road resurfaced with tarmac and even speed humps.
The surface, now complete, will benefit pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users, disabled vehicle owners and those using the allotments.
