Artrix aims for access for all

A CEREMONY was held at Artrix on Monday (September 29) to celebrate the installation of new doors which have improved the arts centre’s disabled access.

The scheme was paid for by Worcestershire County Council and has led to Artrix being awarded a No Barriers Disabled Access Award by Bromsgrove District Council. That recognises organisations in Bromsgrove which have enhanced accessibility.

Artrix already has a hearing loop, disabled toilets, lifts and wheelchair spaces in the theatre and Coun Anthony Blagg and members of Amber Support Services were there on Monday to see the latest feature to improve accessibility.

Coun Blagg said: “The council is delighted to have played a part in this project which will make a positive difference to the lives of disabled people in Bromsgrove.

“We would like to encourage more local organisations to follow suit and improve their accessibility.”

Artrix director Ros Robins said: “We’re always seeking to enhance the experience of visitors to Artrix and this is a small but significant change for our disabled patrons. Our sincere thanks go to the council for its generous funding of this project.”
