COMMUNITY groups and not-for-profit organisations in Bromsgrove have another chance to apply for cash generated by the Government’s New Homes Bonus scheme.

The money, which includes some cash left over from last year’s scheme and the first funds from this year’s, became available on Monday (September 26).

Interested parties are now being urged to apply to Bromsgrove District Council for the grants aimed at helping areas where new housing has been built.

Bromsgrove District Council leader Coun Geoff Denaro said: “It’s great to see the applications we’ve had so far, and we want more.

“The funding is there, we’ve made it available, so I’d strongly encourage groups with ideas for their communities to discuss it with their ward councillor and apply.”

There is £12,324 outstanding from last year and it can be accessed by any communities that can evidence they have been affected by growth, with a £3,500 limit per application.

There is also £61,469 is outstanding from the first round of bids this year. That money is allocated to specific wards, which are detailed in a Ward Application Summary available on the district council’s website, or on request.

For those funds. bids of up to £3,500 or larger bids up to £28,000 may be made if the funds are available.

Bids can be made across more than one ward if additional benefit to the community can be evidenced, and bids must have the support of relevant ward councillor(s).

The deadline for bids is 5pm on October 26.
