FOOTBALL - Scott Adey-Linforth pleased with home momentum after Bromsgrove Sporting beat Royston Town

SCOTT Adey-Linforth admits Bromsgrove Sporting are finally building some momentum at home following a 2-0 victory against Royston Town.

Goals from Gustavo Sanches and Billy Shaw saw the Rouslers stretch their unbeaten run at the Victoria Ground to five matches.

The result means Bromsgrove sit 15th in the Southern League Premier Central table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.

And Adey-Linforth hopes Sporting can build on their recent home form which has lifted the club clear of danger.

Adey-Linforth said: “It’s a good win. I was buzzing to score early and get ahead in the game.

“We were excellent in the first half, we just lacked a bit of bite in the final third.

“We had some really good pretty football in our half and the middle half of the pitch but when we got into the final third we broke down a little bit.

“We never really killed them off but they’re a dangerous team and we had to be focused for 90 minutes and Billy Shaw went and got the second to win it.

“We had a lot of the ball and we’re getting more of the ball than we had at the start of the season.

“We were superb defensively. We defended the goal really well and I never really felt troubled.

“The momentum is brilliant. We want to perform well at home for the supporters and it feeds through the lads.

“We know our start to the season at home wasn’t good enough but this is something to build on definitely.”

Sporting made the perfect start as Sanches broke the deadlock after just eight minutes.

Debutant goalkeeper Rory Brown launched a counter attack which led to Sanches winning a duel with Royston stopper Louis Chadwick before finishing into an empty net.

And Sporting eventually doubled their lead on 83 minutes when Shaw received a pass on the halfway line and drove into the penalty area before firing a shot across goal and into the bottom right corner.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Stourbridge on Saturday, November 15 with kick-off at 3.03pm at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.
