BROMSGROVE Sporting have sacked player-manager Michael McGrath after just over 13 months in charge.
McGrath’s last game at the helm saw the Rouslers lose 3-0 at home to Leamington, a result which extends Sporting’s winless run to six matches in all competitions.
Sporting released a statement confirming McGrath’s departure having won just two of their last 15 league matches with the club 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, nine points above the drop.
A club statement read: “Following a sustained period of indifferent results, the executive board at Bromsgrove Sporting have decided to part ways with manager Michael McGrath.
“We would like to thank him for all his efforts during his tenure, especially in his first season, when he had to deal with numerous changes happening within the club.
“We wish him all the best for the future.”
Chairman Rod Brown added: “We, the executive board, now need to carefully consider the direction we wish to take on the field moving forward.”
McGrath replaced Thomas Baillie in the Victoria Ground dugout in October 2022 and guided the club to an 18th place finish last season just one place above the relegation zone.
McGrath’s departure comes after the Rouslers lost head coach Craig Nicholls to Northern Premier League Midlands side Coleshill Town at the end of January.
