BROMSGROVE Sporting have handed the captain’s armband to Luke Rowe following the departure of former skipper Tom Taylor.

Rowe joined the Rouslers in the summer and has captained the club in Taylor’s absence for the majority of the season.

The midfielder will now wear the armband on a permanent basis with the club’s record appearance holder Aaron Roberts to take up the role of vice-captain.

Former skipper Taylor departed the club for divisional rivals Halesowen Town earlier in the week and managed just three league appearances for Sporting this season.

Rowe left relegated National League North side AFC Telford United at the end of last season.

He previously played for Sporting’s rivals Redditch United as well as Hednesford Town before making the switch to Telford.

Rowe began his career in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ academy before then moving to Coventry City where he captained the under-18’s side.

Spells with Halesowen Town, Coleshill Town and Racing Club Warwick would follow before he returned to step three football with Redditch.
