BROMSGROVE Sporting captain Tom Taylor has left the club to join divisional rivals Halesowen Town.

Taylor has missed most of the 2023/24 season through injury before returning to the pitch over the festive period.

The centre-back scored in Sporting’s 2-2 draw with Stamford before Christmas and helped the Rouslers record two clean sheets in his three league appearances this season.

Yeltz boss, and former Sporting favourite, Paul Smith said: “A big thank you to Micheal McGrath and Rod Brown at Bromsgrove for their help in getting this done quickly.”

Taylor became club captain at Sporting in October 2022 following the appointment of Mike McGrath as player-manager.

The experienced defender was in his second spell with the Rouslers after briefly departing the Victoria Ground for a stint with Stourbridge in 2021/22.

Halesowen are currently nine places above Sporting in the Southern League Premier Central table.
