BROMSGROVE Sporting have confirmed the appointment of Darryl Knights as the club’s new assistant manager.

Knights joins Scott Adey-Linforth’s management team after the latter was named new Sporting boss earlier this week.

The 36-year-old managed Stourbridge towards the end of last season and previously worked with Adey-Linforth at the Glassboys.

Knights said: “I’m really excited to be joining such a big and well supported club. I’m really looking forward to working with Scotty and the group to start to push us up the table.

“I have been a player and a spectator at Bromsgrove’s brilliant ground – when it’s full and rocking, it’s an unbelievable atmosphere.

“It’s up to us, staff and players as a collective, to create that atmosphere again by playing exciting, winning football.”

Adey-Linforth added: “Darryl was the first phone call I made when I was looking for people to join me here at Bromsgrove and I was buzzing when he agreed.

“Having worked closely with Darryl previously, I know he’s an exceptional coach who shares similar passions and beliefs to my own.

“After a top playing career, he brings excellent knowledge and experience to the team. Darryl will play a huge part in helping me coach and develop the squad of players we have.”

Knights featured for the likes of Ipswich Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Newport County, Solihull Moors, Tamworth, AFC Telford United and Stourbridge during his playing career.

He initially led Stourbridge’s academy side in a player-coach role before taking caretaker charge of the first team last season.
