Dan is the man to beat at Alvechurch

DANNY Tresigne has become the man to beat on Thursday Opens at Alvechurch Fisheries as he claimed another impressive win.

The Colmic backed angler (peg 28) finished with 73lbs 15oz after netting carp up to 10lbs fishing long pole slapping banded pellet shallow, while boosting his weight with ide and stockies.

His performance, which came after his winning display seven days earlier, was too much for the rest of the field, with Warren Beach (peg 26) coming closest. He fished similar tactics switching to corn down the margins for a mixed bag of carp, ide and stockies for 57lbs 2oz.

Off peg 35, Rob Taylor fished two tactics long pole and pellet out in front and small method feeder up to the rushes to net carp and silvers 44lbs 12oz and third spot.




Newcomer Martin Bloom (peg 18) also produced a fine showing as he came fourth after fishing both margins with pole and pellet for a mixed bag 34lbs 6oz.

After Tresigne’s superb display, it was then Adam Heath turn to shine in last weekend’s Saturday Open. Hot conditions saw big carp cruising in the upper layers and Heath took full advantage as he finished with 93lbs 11oz.


He picked off carp up to 10lbs fishing two tactics long pole and banded pellet shallow and waggler up to the rushes throughout to top the field.

Tresigne (peg 30) tried his best as he started on the method of feeding up to the island before switching to long pole and pellet fishing shallow for carp and stockies.

But he had to settle for third with 62lbs behind Les Ayres (peg 18) who rotated a number of lines on the pole and pellet out in front and on the deck, shallow to also net carp up to 8lbs and stockies for 70lbs 15oz.

Elsewhere, Steve Bellion (peg 28) came fourth after fishing similar tactics to put 43lbs 9oz on the scales.

Over the holiday period Horseshoe Lake has seen match and pleasure anglers return some fantastic catches including carp up to 12lbs, barbel 6lbs, ide and chub 4lbs.
