A WYTHALL choir has hit all the right notes and been given £5,000 after winning a national award.

As part of the Foundation Community Awards by OneFamily, Wythall Community Choir will use the funds to create a library of musical scores to be performed to the community.

The choir, which has about 80 members of all ages and is led by musical director Alex Norman, was nominated for the award by OneFamily customer and choir member, John Smith.

John Smith said: “We already perform a very wide range of music, from medieval tunes to The Beatles, but acquiring a library of musical scores will enable us to broaden our repertoire even further.

“It will help to keep the choir exciting for our members, and we will also be able to share the library with other local choirs, which is great.”

The twice-yearly Foundation Community Awards provide game-changing opportunities for community organisations, groups and projects across the UK.

Karl Elliott, marketing director at OneFamily, said he was glad they could support Wythall Community Choir which was a fantastically creative and proactive organisation that took every opportunity to perform for its local community.

He added the next Foundation Community Awards were set to launch in the autumn and urged other Worcestershire-based organisations to visit www.onefamily.com/your-foundation for more information.
