A UKRAINIAN refugee living in Redditch has released a song to raise cash for Bromsgrove and Redditch Welcome Refugee Group.

Tetiana Volikova, has collaborated with local writer Michael Francis Boughton to release a song dedicated to the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Working under the stage name of Yavolta, all proceeds from the song will go to the community group.

Tetiana said: ”The author of the song, Michael Francis Boughton, wanted it to be a charity project, and I really want to support Bromsgrove and Redditch Welcome Refugee Group, a voluntary organisation which offers both practical, emotional, and financial support to refugees in and around the two towns.

“This group’s work is funded entirely by donations.

“I want to thank the charity for their work and to help get more donations through buying and downloading Hear My Voice.

“I will be happy if I could reach the amount of £2,000. If it is more, I will really start to believe in miracles.”

Rachel Maclean MP for Redditch met with Tetiana when she first had to relocate with her children to the town.

She said: “I am not at all surprised she has helped create such a moving song to mark the two years of war and to offer assistance to the Bromsgrove and Redditch Welcome Refugee Group.

“The resilience of the Ukrainian people is truly remarkable – we must all remain strong and continue to support Ukraine in defending its homeland and defeating Russia.

“My heart goes out to the families sheltering in the UK and to all the people of Ukraine.”

The song, Hear My Voice, was released on February 28 and is available on all streaming services.
