A POLICE operation to clamp down on speeding motorists was carried out in Fairfield on Wednesday.
Officers from Bromsgrove Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) carried out speed awareness checks in response to residents who expressed concerns about drivers speeding through the village, endangering their lives and the lives of others.
The officers used equipment funded by the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office to assist the team in the education of motorists and the prevention of speeding offences.
It included an illuminated sign which tells approaching drivers the speed they are travelling at, ‘thanking’ those who drive within the speed limit.
Insp Sarah Corteen said: “This is a great piece of equipment which we will be using in areas across North Worcestershire where the public have told us there are speeding issues.
“I’m really pleased this morning the overwhelming majority of drivers were driving sensibly and within the speed limit.”
