SHOCKING images have been released of some of the bladed weapons officers have taken off the streets in Bromsgrove and Rubery over the past year.

Some of the blades were seized from school students, including a working pen with a very sharp and pointed blade hidden in the handle.

Many knives and other weapons have been seized in Bromsgrove and Rubery over the past year, which have come from amnesties and from stop searches following suspicious circumstances reports.

The weapons seized have included knives, machetes, an axe and a meat cleaver.

The images of the weapons have been revealed as part of Operation Sceptre week, which aims to take action to reduce knife crime.

As part of the week, members of the public are being urged to hand in unwanted knives to stop them from getting into the wrong hands.

A knife surrender bin can be found in the front office of Kidderminster Police Station on Habberley Road.
