Rednal pub staff get green for homeless project

STAFF and customers from the Hare and Hounds pub in Rednal will be working hard this weekend on a project to transform the garden at the South Birmingham Young Homeless Project’s (SBYHP).

Among the tasks the team will be undertaking will be repairing the fencing, planting and opening up a storage area.

Cash has been raised in the pub to pay for materials and there have been donations from local businesses.

EH Smith has supplied materials free of charge, GKN Aerospace has given cash and will also be helping on the day, Rainbow Building, Painting and Decorations and RBS Scaffolding will also provide some of the workforce on the day.

The project is being managed by regulars Dave, Ian and Ricky.




The SBYHP works with vulnerable and disadvantaged of young people in Birmingham to improve their lives and the lives of their family.

Among the help it offers are quality assured housing, benefit and debt advice, a sexual health drop-in, household items to help young people become more independent, a computer room with Internet access and fresh food, thanks to a partnership with M&S.


The Hare and Hounds pub has also pledged to raise cash for the SBYHP charity throughout the year.
