THE PRIMROSE Hospice’s 30th birthday ball at the Holiday Inn in Bromsgrove raised almost £14,000 for the charity.

The event was sold out, attracting more than 160 guests, including representatives from local businesses, trustees, volunteers, staff and associates.

BBC Hereford and Worcester Radio presenter Malcolm Boyden compered the evening, renowned band Soultrader performed live and Roger Powell conducted the auction.

There were 13 lots in the auction and they, along with a game of heads and tails and a raffle, generated nearly £6,000 of the £14,000 total.

The main sponsor of the ball was Kendrick Homes.

Emma Williams, the Primrose Hospice’s fund-raising manager for community engagement, said: “The event was a huge success and the first of its kind in support of Primrose Hospice in many years.

“Guests partied the night away until the small hours to the fabulous entertainment, which was provided by live local band, Soultrader.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who came along and to the event, the sponsors and to everyone who helped make the ball the huge success that it was.”

The band was sponsored by Bromsrove-based Aspire Business Partnership and guests were welcomed with a glass of prosecco, sponsored by Redditch-based Workforce.

Emma added everyone at the hospice was overwhelmed by the amount raised.

“We simply could not do what we do without the support of the local community and local businesses,” she added.
