New Year, new opportunities - Love Volunteering launches in Worcestershire

RESIDENTS across Worcestershire are being urged to consider volunteering as one of their new year, new activities, writes Maya Dabrowska.

And, to help people find a role to suit them, a new Love Volunteering project has been launched.

The free, county-wide volunteering portal platform enables residents to discover a wide range of volunteering opportunities quickly and easily.

Through this programme there will be something of interest for everyone, including NHS and council service opportunities, trustee and committee roles and charity or community work.

Volunteering holds many benefits for people and their areas, including the chance to gain new skills and experience whilst meeting new people, the opportunity to improve personal wellbeing, a sense of purpose in life and keeping Worcestershire safe and growing.

For the scheme, Worcestershire County Council has teamed up with local volunteer centres through the WeCan network and the Citizens Advice Wyre Forest, whose websites feed into the portal.

Love Volunteering means locally shared opportunities are available to view all in one place.

Groups offering volunteering opportunities are also welcome to add them to the system – they just register for free and get involved.

Coun Ian Cresswell, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Environment and Communities said: “The New Year is a perfect time to try something new, and Love Volunteering opens the door to so many rewarding opportunities across Worcestershire.

“Whether you can give a little time or not, volunteering benefits our communities and those who step forward to help.”

Organisations or groups offering volunteering opportunities or people looking for roles can visit LoveVolunteering.co.uk for further information.
