BROMSGROVE district council will have its third youngest chairman ever over the next year after Councillor Joshua Robinson was elected into the role.

Coun Robinson will be joined by his wife and fellow district councillor, Siobhan Robinson, as his consort.

Coun Bakul Kumar has also been elected as Vice-Chairman.

He said: “I am absolutely honoured by this and want to thank Council colleagues for their faith in me and their support.

“I intend to be a fair chair, and I want to use the next 12 months to be about bringing people together and look forward to getting out and about in our communities.”

Coun Robinson has yet to announce his charities for the year ahead.

The outgoing chairman, Coun Sam Evans, announced that during his term of office, he raised £3,000 for the Basement Project through fundraising events and a £1,500 contribution from the District Council’s Ward Fund.

Coun Evans said: “Over the last year, it has been an honour and privilege to meet the people who work tirelessly within our communities to make our District a better place in which to live.

“I am delighted to have raised money for the Basement Project and the amazing work it is doing locally in helping young people with housing issues.”
