Met Office issues snow warnings for Bromsgrove and Rubery tomorrow

THE MET Office has issued a yellow warning for snow for Bromsgrove and Rubery tomorrow afternoon and evening (Thursday).

According to the current forecast, rain could turn to snow from about 3pm before getting heavier towards 6pm.

The prediction on the Met Office’s ‘observation map’ is then for a steady snow fall throughout the night and into the early hours of Friday morning.

Although more likely in East Anglia and south-east England, the Met Office states there is a chance of rain ‘rapidly turning to snow’ which could cause disruption to roads and rail services.

“As skies clear on Thursday night there is also potential for widespread ice to form quite rapidly on untreated surfaces,” it adds.

West Mercia Police urged people, in the event of snow, to stay off the roads where possible.

But the force adds: “If people do choose to drive, however, they are advised to ensure they are prepared for the conditions.

“When temperatures plummet – potentially resulting in heavy frost and icy patches on roads – ice, fog, tiredness, lack of concentration and unusual journey patterns are all factors that can possibly lead to a collision.”
