STOKE Prior Steam Rally had its best ever attendance last weekend when it returned after a three-year gap caused by the Covid pandemic, writes Holly Clement.
The weekend was the 32nd rally, and was opened on the Saturday by Peter Williams, chairman of the Stoke Parish Council.
Over the weekend the rally had over 700 exhibitions including classic cars, steam engines, Gavioli organs, along with motorcycles and pedal cycles.
The rally was supported by local Kelly’s Sweeper Services which brought a new road sweeper and a vintage one.
This won the commercial cup for best in show, awarded by Liz Eden the organiser.
The rally included a presentation tribute to The Queen and the steam engines whistled in her honour alongside a minute’s silence.
Liz described the whole atmosphere as ‘very emotional’.
She added as well as the best ever attendance, there was wonderful feedback from visitors which had left them excited for the next one.
Next year’s event will be on September 16 and 17.
