A NEW dad was left fighting for his life after a serious car crash on the M42 near Hopwood.
Niall Martell was taken to the Alexandra Hospital on January 18 after he broke every bone in his face, including his skull.
The 23-year-old said he was forced to slam on his brakes after a car cut in front of him but unfortunately the brakes locked and his car flipped over and crashed into a tree.
Three men, Jamie Emms and brothers Bradford and Tom Piper, spotted Niall on the opposite side of the road and rushed to his rescue.
They quickly drove him to the hospital.
Niall’s mum Sian said: “We are eternally grateful to those men as not only did they save his life but they also afforded him the opportunity to meet his son who was due in two weeks at the time of the crash.
“Niall is struggling at the moment because he has just had an operation to help repair his broken bones.
“The sight in his one eye is not very good following the incident but he is at least back at home with his family.
“It’s a long road ahead for him before he reaches full recovery.
“I will be making changes in my home to accommodate his new needs.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Niall and his new family with the ongoing costs of care.
Both Niall and his partner will be unable to work for a lengthy period of time due to Niall’s life-changing injuries.
